What is BuildAtlas Commons?
BuildAtlas Commons is a proposed public-interest space where people with different perspectives can examine shared evidence, understand disagreement and develop workable responses without requiring consensus.
How can two perspectives share one room?
The intended experience brings two people with different perspectives into a structured conversation guided by one evidence-grounded AI moderator. The moderator may explain terms, surface attributable context and identify unanswered questions. It cannot declare a winner, manufacture consensus, impersonate expertise or turn a participant claim into verified fact.
From evidence to follow-through
- Understand: start with a clear question, dated sources and explicit unknowns.
- Contribute: add questions, evidence, relevant experience and critique.
- Facilitate: organise the discussion under accountable human oversight.
- Develop: test options, assumptions, trade-offs and unresolved objections.
- Track: revisit decisions, milestones, outcomes and corrections.
What makes a Commons conversation trustworthy?
BuildAtlas separates verified intelligence, reported claims, personal experience, interpretation and unresolved questions. Original sources, publication dates, corrections and conflicts should remain inspectable. Popularity does not determine fact, and participation does not imply endorsement.
What protections are part of the design?
The current design calls for consent-gated participation, proportionate access controls, human supervision for early rehearsals, privacy-respecting identity handling, visible uncertainty, correction paths and no automatic public publication. Commons complements formal consultation, regulation, Indigenous rights and institutional decision-making; it does not replace them.
What is available today?
Commons is currently a concept and design proposal, not a launched public participation service. Alberta Energy is the first demonstration question because BuildAtlas already maintains Power, Oil & Gas and Connected Energy evidence experiences. A private rehearsal shell is being reviewed separately; this public page contains no participant or pilot data.
Where does the first demonstration begin?
Read the current Alberta Connected Energy experience to see how BuildAtlas links named evidence without collapsing monthly, operational and project records into one unsupported story.
BuildAtlas separates public-source facts, reported statements, and its own clearly labelled interpretation. See the methodology for how to read the evidence.
