Alberta Oil & Gas Intelligence
A regularly refreshable, source-backed view of Alberta oil and gas production, well activity, and pipeline context. The reporting clocks differ, and monthly production is not a live operating feed.
What happened in the latest verified production record?
Statistics Canada reports 19,210,004 m³ of crude oil and 10,373,939 thousand m³ of marketable gas in 2026-06. Compared with the same month a year earlier, oil changed 1.2% and gas changed 5.1%. These are monthly totals, not current operating rates, and the comparisons do not identify causes.
Production is reported monthly
Across 12 monthly observations from 2025-07 through 2026-06, the selected 12-month path changed -7.8% for crude oil and -2.5% for marketable gas. The full path can include reversals or seasonal movement that an endpoint hides. Statistics Canada data can be revised, and AER ST3 gas reporting has a 2026 methodology change that requires separate comparability checks.

The month-to-month path includes movement that an endpoint comparison can hide. It still does not establish why production moved.
Licensing and reported drilling are different stages
In the August 2026 archive, the bounded sample contains 389 ST1 licence records and 561 ST49 activity rows, with 28 licence numbers appearing in both sets. That overlap supports a cautious identifier comparison; it is not a conversion rate from licences to wells drilled and does not establish future production. Actual producing wells are not measured by either list. AER ST1 — Well Licences Issued - Daily List · AER ST49 — Reported Drilling Activity .
Reported flow is not Alberta production
East Gate is a named NGTL reporting point in the CER resource. The latest sampled row reports 139,179 1000 m³/day against reported capacity of 143,236 1000 m³/day, or approximately 97.2%. This is transport context at one point, not Alberta production, an Alberta-only export volume or proof that a pipeline condition caused a production change. Three evidence clocks describe different parts of the system
Monthly Statistics Canada tables report volumes. AER licence and drilling records describe administrative and reported activity. CER records describe flows and capacities at named pipeline points. BuildAtlas keeps them as context rather than presenting one causal chain.
What should readers watch?
Watch the next Statistics Canada release and revisions, subsequent AER activity records, and later CER resource updates. Keep the three evidence clocks separate until definitions, geography, and timing support a stronger relationship.
How to read V1
BuildAtlas is independent of the regulators and publishers named below. This V1 experience is an educational synthesis of reported evidence, not an AER, Statistics Canada or CER publication. Statistics Canada and CER open datasets are refreshed on their own schedules. The bounded AER ST1/ST49 material is educational derived evidence used under AER's accuracy, attribution and non-affiliation terms. Automated AER access is a separate operational task; raw third-party records are not republished here, and this page does not authorize commercial redistribution.
BuildAtlas separates public-source facts, reported statements, and its own clearly labelled interpretation. See the methodology for how to read the evidence.
